Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure for your skin. Your healthcare provider uses a special instrument to shave away the uppermost layers of your skin.

The Science behind Dermaplaning

The top layer of skin is exposed  to ultraviolet rays, environmental and chemical toxins, and other irritants, this can make the skin appear dull. Dermaplaning removes the top layer of skin to reveal new skin cells that will make your skin appear smoother and allow it to glow.

What is it used for ?

Dermaplaning is a  procedure that removes the top layers of your skin and also the vellus hair that covers the face. The technique aims to improve the appearance of fine wrinkles and helps with deep acne scarring, as well as making the skin’s surface look smooth.

Dermaplaning is a safe treatment with minimal risks, generally people experience no side effects from the procedure..

This procedure doesn’t require any downtime for recovery, which makes it extremely convenient. Our Advanced Nurse Prescriber who has lots of experience with surgical blades and procedures will perform the procedure.

How does it work ?

A Dermaplaning appointment lasts around 30 minutes to an hour, depending if you have add on treatments.

The Dermaplaning involves  scraping away the top layer of your skin using a scalpel-like tool with short, feather-like strokes.

Although it is a very effective treatment and removes the surface dead skin cells and vellus hair, it is not painful. This is because the exfoliation is so superficial and the scalpel gently presses against your skin.

What are the Benefits ?
  • softer, smoother skin

  • brighter-looking appearance

  • smoother foundation for makeup

  • a light exfoliation

  • peach-fuzz removal

As well as helping you get very soft, silky, smooth skin, dermaplaning also smooths out the skin. It reduces uneven skin texture and gives you a smoother base for your foundation and makeup, which means no more cakey makeup for you. Even if you exfoliate regularly at home or dermaplane it’s a more in depth treatment in clinic which is done with a surgical blade so is much more effective.
