The Science behind Dernal Fillers
The main dermal filler used at The Vanity Rooms is made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) this holds onto water (hydrophilic), so when it’s injected into the skin it improves hydration of the tissue. The hydrophilic nature of this filler means that it rapidly restores skin volume, therefore filling out wrinkles and where required creating contour. They are effective on fine lines and help to reduce severe wrinkles and folds. While the results are virtually instant, this then degrades over time, with longevity typically being measured in months depending on the area injected.
What is it used for ?
Dermal fillers are a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure. Dermal fillers plump up wrinkles, smooth lines and restore volume in your face.

Dermal fillers can be used to enhance facial features or gain a more youthful appearance. All filler treatments at The Vanity Rooms are injected by our Advanced Aesthetics Nurse Prescriber, she has a wealth of knowledge working at an advanced level over many years. Rest assured you are in very safe hands and treatments will only ever be used to enhance your natural beauty and not to make to look artificial or overdone.
How does it work ?
An initial medical consultation will take place to check your suitability for treatment and to discuss the procedure and associated risks and benefits of the treatment.

On the day of treatment, on entering the clinic a recap will take place of both of the procedure and the desired outcome. Numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area.

Once the area is numbed the skin is cleaned with a strong antibacterial solution called chlorhexidine. Once this is dry and the area is sterile the filler is injected (non latex sterile gloves are used).

The method of administering the dermal filler will depend on the area treated and the result wanted, it is injected via either a small cannula or a needle.
What are the Benefits ?
As you age, so does your skin, which starts to lose collagen. Collagen is an important substance within the skin, connective tissues, bones and muscles.
As we age our levels of collagen decrease in the skin, this causes a reduction in skin laxity and loss of volume. Skin becomes thinner, depleted moisture leads to dryness and the skin loses its elasticity and starts to sag. and wrinkle.
